Trout Fishing
Trout Fishing is abundant in Blue Ridge, and as Jimmy Jacobs, a life long Georgia fly fisherman, describes in his book Trout Fishing in North Georgia, "After more than three decades of trout fishing, I have concluded that the public trout waters of Georgia contain more than a lifetime of angling opportunity for those who wish to pursue the sport." The Toccoa River which is open year round provides easy access to stocked rainbow and brown trout as well as wild rainbow and brown trout. The upper Toccoa is easily accessible from our cabin at bridges and on patches of National Forest land and is all wadable and it contains nicely stocked trout. Great fishing occurs below the Blue Ridge dam on the 15 miles of The Toccoa that flows to the town of McCaysville. Be sure to check the TVA water release schedule, as water can rise rapidly. For more fly fishing specifics, feel free to consult Unicoi Outfitters in downtown Blue Ridge. There are also many opportunities for guided fly fishing trips or fishing for trophy trout on private portions of the Big Creek and Noontootla. Here are some hepful links.
