Canoeing and Kayaking
Canoeing and Kayaking in the Aska Adventure area are a must. The Tocoa River has been described by some knowledgeable canoeist as Georgia's prettiest whitewater stream. It's headwaters flow into Fannin County from Union county into lake Blue Ridge and then travels below the dam into Tennesee where it become the Ocoee. There are many canoe and kayak launch areas relatively close to Big Creek Base camp, depending on how much time you want on the water. There is Deep Hole, many of the pull outs along Old Dial Road, and Sandy Bottoms, for launching, and you may take out at the Shallowford Bridge. For equipment rental and a shuttle service you may want to contact a local outfitter known as Jon Ron.
